Happy New Year Everyone!
I love New Year’s ! For one, it’s still acceptable to have Christmas lights and decor still up (which makes decorating for New Year’s a lot easier!) annnd it marks the beginning of a fresh start, clean slate, new beginning etc.
I used to make resolutions this time of year like most people, and by january barely remembered what I resolved to do. After reading Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project, I started writing out monthly resolutions to improve my life, checking off those habits daily. I was far from perfect in my execution but, I was really amazed at how much I was able to improve by being specific. Instead of proclaiming “this year I’m going to the gym every day!” Last January I wrote out several small goals for getting healthy, like “working out at least 15 mins every day, and cook at home more, and bring lunch to work…you get the idea. Gretchen’s chart was so helpful and motivating – she will email it to you if you send her an email (click on the link for details)
So in that spirit, here are a few of my favorite tools and resources for helping you get the most out of the coming New Year (without forgeting about what you wanted by Feb 1st)

Chris Brogan’s three word focus
Love this one! Found it a few years back and have been writing my words down every year since. For 2012, my words are
- Fortitude
- Simplify
- Possibility
12 for 12 (12 monthly actions in 2012)
Pick one thing to do consistently every day for a month. Really great ideas – check it out here
